After reading this poem i had one word stuck in my head. How? How could someone be so cruel to kill people because they were different? How could a young girl in hiding for years have so much hope? Questions raced through my head. Living as a Jew in this time was completely unfair. For me, with a Jewish father, i cant even begin to imagine living Anne Franks life. She was incredibly brave and could find good in everyone, even the Nazi’s! They were killing people for being different and not like them, and still, Anne could say they were good at heart. Can you imagine how many sweet innocent people were killed because of their religion!? Sitting in the closet after locking myself in, i couldn’t't stand it! i was so bored! When i couldn’t't take it any longer i walked out and went on my trampoline. Now, when i think about it, my experience was so different then what the Franks lived through. They were not pretending to hide, they couldn’t't talk freely and move around, and they didn’t have the freedom to go outside whenever they felt like it. i was ashamed i could only sit in the closet for 30 minutes. They didn’t leave the annex for 2 years! All the freedom we have today that we often take advantage of, the Franks could only dream of. It is so hard to imagine something like the Holocaust happening in our world, but it only happened 60 years ago! Under the horrible leadership of Adolf Hitler, 12 years of terror, over 6 million lives ended, this was the Holocaust.

What makes me happy? My friends. My friends are AMAZING!!! Just being with them makes me happier than ever! Whenever I’m sad or even just in the mood to have a laugh, i call a friend. They can make me laugh so hard! When I’m around my friends there is never an awkward silence or a point in time when you feel like you need to pretend to be something your not. Good friends are there for you no matter what happens. i have friends from all over. its hard to imagine, but even though camp only lasts a month, the friendships you make are outstanding. After being at the Camp Illahee for 5 years i have SO many friends that i have made that are so important to me in my life! Friends are great to have but best friends are another story… a best friends are like no other. best friends are often hard to find but once you find them it is an everlasting friendship that will never die. My best friends know more about me than i do, they can finish my sentences, and know exactly what I’m thinking without saying it! I can always depend on them. If my parents didn’t force me to go to school, friends would be the only reason i would wake up at 6:30 in the morning, 5 days a week, 9 months a year, to go to school (no offence teachers!!!) Friends are so important to life, without them life would be almost impossible!

This quote is my motto for life. It shows me that life shouldn’t be about always playing it safe and “waiting for the storm to pass” Life should be about taking risks and having fun! Life is way to short not to make the best out of it. Live your life to fullest because you never know what will happen. As “they” say, you are never promised a tomorrow. If today was your last day, and you didn’t have tomorrow, would you feel like you have made your life the best it can be? Have you lived your life to the full extent? Did you completely enjoy the ride? Any regrets? Ask yourself these questions every time you are “waiting for the storm to pass.” Its never too late to “dance in the rain.”

Whenever i feel down and need to be picked back up i turn to music. Life without music would be so quiet, so empy, so different! Music is like a blast of energy, a rush of happiness. If im in a bad mood, nothing can cheer me up more than blasting the music and blocking every other sound out of my head. Even if im in the worst mood possible nothing is like dancing around your room with music flowing through your ears. Another “pick me up” that gets me out of the dumps, is being around my friends. close friends are some of my favorite people in my life, they are like no other. They make me laugh so hard that there is no possible way to be sad around them. They can confort you, relate to you and they are so easy to talk to. Whenever i am in a bad mood, after listening to music, i call up a friend and just talk for hours untill i dont even remember what i was sad about in the first place. Without friends my life would be so different. I would never be as happy as i am today. the one thing i can allways count on to pick me up when i am down if my family. My parents actually listen to me and they continue to support me and be there for me in everything i do. Even my brothers help (sometimes) Even though they are incredibliy annoying and never leave me alone, they still make me laugh and i love being around them. My last resource to snap out of a bad mood is sleep. i like to sleep on it so when i wake up my mind is cleared with bad thoughts and good ones can flow through. Bad day happen so… find your “pick me up”!
